Target 101

Target can be a very fun place to shop with coupons.

Four Ways to Save at Target:

1. Coupons
• Internet Printables and Paper Coupons:  Yes, these are both accepted.
• Stack Coupons: Yes.  One manufacturer and One store coupon per item unless stipulated differently by the coupon itself.  Certain store coupons will stipulate if you can only use one store coupon per transaction.
• B1G1 free coupons:  If you have a B1G1 Free manufacturer coupon, you can only stack one target coupon for the first item.  You can not use a target coupon on the free item.  The same applies if its a B1G1 free target coupon.
• If the coupon or stacked coupons exceeds the value of the product, Target will adjust the coupon(s) down.  They do not give cash back.  This means if the product cost $2, but your coupons value at $2.50 off, they are going to adjust the coupon value down to equal the cost of the product.
• Mobile Coupons:  These are coupons that can be sent to your smartphone.  It gives a special link within your text message that will take you to one barcode with several coupons.  One scan of the barcode and all applicable coupons are applied.  These are target store coupons, and they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons.    Just like a paper coupon, once the coupon is applied you can not use it again.
• A side note on mobile coupons:  From my personal experience, they are still working out the kinks on mobile coupons.  Sometimes the barcode scans and sometimes it doesn’t.  There is no way to prove if you used the mobile coupon or not even if you know you didn’t.   It will be up to the cashier and store manager to override the system.
2. Catalinas:  Generally these are unadvertised coupons that are randomly given to customers for shopping at Target.
3. Gift Cards:  Weekly you will find advertised and unadvertised gift card promotions.  These are typically for buying a certain number of a particular product or products.   These are great to combine with coupons, and often this is where you can score some great deals.
4. Price Matching:  To buy an item at Target for the same price as an advertised ad at another store, you must bring in the ad and you can only price match at guest services.
